THE PRESIDENT said the subject of the paper was extremely interesting and it was valuable that the members of the Institution should have the opportunity to learn about it.
My first action this evening must be to thank you all most sincerely for the great honour you have done me in electing me to be your President. In so doing you have entrusted to me the responsibility of maintaining and enhancing, if this is possible, the prestige of the Institution, and this will be uppermost in my thoughts during the coming year. THE PRESIDENT, in thanking Professor Sattler for a most stimulating lecture, said the meeting would wish to offer their very great appreciation of it and their congratulations on his reading of the English language.
