The Institution is delighted to announce this year’s Annual academics conference, dedicated to enabling the academic community in preparing students to meet industry expectations upon graduation. Following the recent survey on the quality of teaching of structural behaviour organised by the Institution, a keynote address will uncover its result to highlight the main considerations from both academia and industry. A workshop activity will then allow participants to discuss the role of academics in developing students’ understanding of structural behaviour, and ways to make learning and teaching practices more effective. The workshop will offer an unrivalled opportunity to connect and share knowledge. Due to the open forum nature of the workshop session, please note that this conference will not be recorded.
Academics attending this conference will be able to implement actionable steps to make the learning and teaching of structural behaviour more effective, and to develop students’ intuitive understanding of structural behaviour beyond mere theoretical knowledge.
All members of the academic community are welcome. The conference will be particularly useful to academics involved in structural analysis and design modules and structural design themed projects.
